Winter Outreach 2013

For Students in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Grade.

Three Days Each Month
Each Month are Repeated
Wednesdays from 4 - 6 pm @ MATES
    January 9, 16, 23
    February 6, 13, 20 
    March 6, 13, 20 

Taught by MATES Project Terrapin Students under the supervision of MATES staff

Cost is only $15.00 for the month (three days)!

To register, please fill out the registration form and mail in with a check for $15.00 made payable to OCVTS. 

Both the Winter Outreach and Summer Experience are non-refundable.  A credit may be offered for future programs. 


Summer Experience 2012

Our Summer Experience is a hands-on approach to learning about the local area.  Students will be in the field daily and will be able to interact with local experts and natural resources throughout the entire Barnegat Bay area. Here is a breakdown of weeks:

Week 1: July 16 - 19 (Pine Barrens)
Week 2: July 23 - 26 (Barnegat Bay)
Week 3: July 30 - Aug. 2 (P. Barrens)
Week 4: August 6 - 9 (Barnegat Bay)

The times of the camps are from 7:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. 

There is a two week option to include both the Pine Barrens and Barnegat Bay.

Summer 2012 application in Word

Overview: 
Week 1 and Week 3 focus on Pine Barrens' and freshwater ecology. The following activities are included:  Forest Resource Education Center activities, Canoeing on the Wading River, Double Trouble visit, Wells Mills Park hiking, River Water Boat Sampling

Week 2 and Week 4 focus on Barnegat Bay Ecology.  The following activities are included: Bay Cruiser survey, Forsythe Refuge visit, Viking Village tour and seine, Jenkinson's Aquarium "Behind the Scenes"

"Experience one week or join us for two". Weekly cost is $150.00.  A list of items to bring will be provided for those who register. A copy of the student's most recent report card and an essay is required for selection to the summer experience.
