Who Can Benefit?
The Center is available to all Ocean County residents and specializes in assisting people
seeking information or change. Services include: planning technical, business or college
education; obtaining required certification or licensures; upgrading current career skills;
changing career goals; re-entry into the world of work; developing avocational interests;
referrals to other agencies and institutions; and educational funding information.
What is the Cost?
There is a $30.00 fee for any and all services at the Skills Center.
How do you enroll?
For information or to set up an appointment, call (732) 473-3100, ext. 3129 at any time
and leave a message on the voice mail service. All calls will be returned in the evening
from 6:30-9:30 Monday through Thursday.
Meet with a counselor and start an individual program of career exploration designed to
meet your personal needs.
What services will I receive?
• Working with an interactive computer, you can get information specific to your questions
• An interest inventory and/or specialized vocational test administered by the Center personnel
• Test results returned and interpreted by the vocational counselor
• Help in selecting training courses for programs at hundreds of training institutions
• Help in planning a job search and designing resumes
• Information concerning funding for post-secondary and/or college level training
Where is the Skills Center?
The Skills Center is located at the Ocean County Vocational Technical Schools’ Toms River
Center on Old Freehold Road at the corner of Bey Lea Road.
Adult Special Needs Program
In its effort to assist all adults in Ocean County, the School of Adult Education provides:
help in dealing with specialists and agencies, job assistance-career counseling. This program
is available to handicapped, out-of-school adults who have been affiliated with
OCVTS in the past and now need special assistance in finding a job or continuing their
education. |
