OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY- The OCVTS Adult Culinary Arts program at the Navy Lakehurst Center had the honor of catering a retirement party for US Navy Captain Phillip L. Beachey, the outgoing commanding officer of the Naval Air Engineering Station (NAES). Captain Beachey had served as commanding officer since 2007 and has been a strong supporter of the ongoing partnership which enables OCVTS to maintain teaching facilities on the navy base. Historic Hangar One is home to OCVTS Aviation and Aerospace Technology, Audio for Electronic Media, and the Performing Arts Academy. The Adult Culinary Arts program is located in Building 33 which provides ample kitchen facilities as well as a catering/dining venue.
After a retirement ceremony, invited guests feasted on a variety of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and desserts, all prepared under the direction of Culinary Arts Instructors Chef Ian Smith and Chef Gary Lesniak.
As of September 30, NAES has officially become a part of the new Joint Base Maguire-Dix-Lakehurst, under the command of Air Force Colonel Gina Grosso.
