    OCVTS HOLDS APPRENTICESHIP GRADUATION CEREMONY

    Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Education Member Laurie Cahill presented outstanding student awards to: Electricity Graduate Andrew Williams  

    OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY The Ocean County Vocational Technical School’s Apprenticeship Trades Certificate Awards Ceremony was held at Mancini Hall at the Ocean County Library, Toms River, for 77 students who completed their four-year journey in their chosen trade. The OCVTS Apprenticeship programs require students to attend 576 hours of trade-related classroom instruction while logging 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with an employer who sponsors the student, over the course of four years. The ceremony, led by OCVTS Adult Education Principal and Apprenticeship Coordinator Mary Beatty-Sharisky, celebrated the completion of apprenticeship training for students in the Electricity; Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R); Plumbing; and Maintenance Mechanic programs. The graduates received certificates of completion from Ocean County Vocational Technical School. Some of the graduates have attained registered apprentice status through the United States Department of Labor.


    HVAC-R graduate Jennifer Stueber received an outstanding student award from the Foundation as well as the ‘Vocational Educational Commitment Award’, in honor of Bruce B. Beatty, Professional Engineer, presented to her by David Nicola from the Ocean County Workforce Development Board.

    Several students were recognized for their outstanding academics as well as on-the-job performance and received awards sponsored by the Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Education. They were: Plumbing graduate Richard Wilson, Sr.; Maintenance Mechanic graduate Scottie Dyce; and Electricity graduate Andrew Williams. HVAC-R graduate Jennifer Stueber received an outstanding student award from the Foundation as well as the ‘Vocational Educational Commitment Award’, presented in honor of Bruce B. Beatty, Professional Engineer. Electricity graduate Corey Vassallo received the ‘Striving for Success Outstanding Student Award’, sponsored by Sidney Finkelstein, P.A.

    In attendance for the ceremony were OCVTS Superintendent William Hoey Jr.; Assistant Superintendent Nancy Weber-Loeffert; OCVTS Board of Education Member Ron Rosetto; Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Education Member Laurie Cahill; Ocean County Workforce Development Council Representative David Nicola; and Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship Representative John Martinez.
