OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY -The Ocean County Vocational Technical School’s Marine Service Technology Program recently hosted the 3M ‘Demonstration & Education Mobile Operation’ Classroom for product and safety training at the OCVTS Jackson Center.

During school hours, OCVTS Collision Repair students participated in several training sessions involving newly developed 3M products and application processes. Students learned about improved safety procedures as well as efficiency improvements in automotive paints and related products.

After school hours, owners and employees from local collision repair businesses were invited to attend additional training sessions. Although the first day of Spring did not cooperate weather-wise attendance at the event was good, with over 75 participants.

The training event was coordinated by John Voorhees, an employee of Central Paint located in Trenton, New Jersey, which is a major distributor of 3M products to auto body shops and collision centers throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mr. Voorhees has also been a collision repair instructor for the OCVTS Adult Education Evening Division for over 20 years. “The 3M Mobile Classroom had been at a trade show in Secaucus this past weekend so I knew it would be a great opportunity to arrange for this training session here in Jackson. For students to be able to learn about and work with the same products that are used in local businesses is a real asset for them,” commented Mr. Voorhees.
