BRUNSWICK- John Biscardi, an automotive technology
instructor at the Jackson Center of the Ocean County
Vocational Technical School (OCVTS), received the
Successful Graduate Recognition Award by the New Jersey
Council of County Vocational Schools. The award was
presented during a recent dinner at the East Brunswick
Chateau.
Biscardi, of Little Egg Harbor Township, graduated
from the OCVTS Waretown Center in 1986. After service
in the Naval Reserve, Biscardi, worked with Pine Belt
Nissan-Cadillac Automotive, Toms River, for 14 years.
At the same time, he earned an associate degree at
Ocean County College. He later
completed requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree
in social studies and certification in elementary
education from Thomas Edison College.
In 2001, Biscardi joined OCVTS as an instructor after
his initial teaching experience at Perth Amboy High
School.
The teacher was nominated for the award by Jackson
Center Principal Karen Homiek who credited Biscardi
with enhancing his program.
“The Automotive Technology program flourished
under his direction,’’ said Homiek.
“It was because of his dedication to education,
enthusiasm for his subject and respect for his students,”
she added.
Each year, the New Jersey Council of County Vocational
Technical Schools recognizes an outstanding graduate
from each of New Jersey’s 21 counties.
The council is the statewide association of school
board members and superintendents representing the
state’s vocational and technical schools. Enrolling
64,000 high school ands adult students, the county
vocational technical schools are New Jersey’s
primary delivery system for occupational vocation
and technical education.
