LAKEHURST
– Officials of Ocean County Vocational Technical
School (OCVTS) and Mercer County College recently
signed an educational agreement linking the institutions’
aviation programs. Ocean County students in the Aviation
and Aerospace Technology Program will be able to earn
up to six Mercer County College Tech Prep credits
while taking OCVTS courses. The Tech Prep concept
allows high students to make a “seamless transition”
into college programs. Shown left to right are Mark
Lamb, OCVTS Aviation Instructor; OCVTS Superintendent
William P. Hoey Jr.; Joseph Blasenstein, Mercer County
College Aviation Program Coordinator, and Vern Beadle,
Principal of the OCVTS Career & Technical Institute.
The institute is housed in Hangar One at NAVAIR, Lakehurst
. It is the only public high school on a U.S. military
base.
