    Architectural / Engineering Design

    Architectural / Engineering Design | Tech Prep | 2 years / 900 hours

    This course is for high school and high school graduates interested in architectural, mechanical, and civil engineering careers. Skills for drafting and design of archi-tectural, civil engineering, and mechanical components are emphasized.Mechanical and residential drafting are stressed in the first year. The second yearconcentrates on drafting and design of residentialstructures, and civil engineering. Hand draftingmethods and Computer Aided Drafting/Design(CADD) technologies are utilized. Tech Prep agree-ments are in place with Ocean County College,enabling students to receive up to 9 college credits,and with Mercer County College, enabling studentsto receive 6 college credits. Successful completionof both the OCVTS 2-year curriculum and college challenge exams are required to obtain credits.

    A+ Certification

    A+ Certification | 1 years / 450 hours

    This course prepares students for the A+ Certification Exam in computer repairtechnology. The increased demand for qualified PC technicians has made A+Certification a must for improved job opportunities and advancement in the worldof PC repair and maintenance. Recommended Skills: Ageneral foundation in electronics and/or computers isstrongly recommended. In addition, strong math and science skills are recom-mended.

    Computer Service Repair

    Computer Service Repair | 1 years / 450 hours

    This program is a survey course designed to prepare students with a diversifiedcomputer and electronic background. The goal is to supply the necessary infor-mation needed to prepare students to make educational decisions in pursuingcomputer or other related technology careers.The student will learn the theory ofoperation, assembly, and troubleshooting of modern computers. The course tar-gets entry level skills leading to a career in the computer service market. Recommended Skills: Strong math and science skills are recommended.

    Computer Science

    Computer Science | Tech Prep | 2 years / 900 hours

    This course provides students with opportunities for advanced studies in informa-tion technology. The program is open to students who plan on pursuing collegedegrees in preparation for careers as system engineers, computer programmers,information technology managers or other technology related specialties. Topicscovered in the course include: introduction to information systems and computerapplications, introduction to problem solving and program design, Internet organi-zation and applications, object oriented design and programming using VisualBASIC, and Java, and web site design and development using HTML, JavaScript,and PHP. The course may include internships with area businesses. Multimediaapplications, high speed Internet access, and state-of-the-art equipment and tech-nology are available to students. High school students are eligible to receive 12college credits through a Tech Prep agreement with Ocean County College. Pre-requisites include familiarity with desktop computers, standard desktopapplications like Word and Excel, and the Internet.
