    Architectural / Engineering Design

    Architectural / Engineering Design | Tech Prep | 2 years / 900 hours

    This course is for high school students and graduates interested in architectural, mechanical, and civil engineering careers. Skills for drafting and design of architectural, civil engineering, and mechanical components are emphasized. Mechanical and residential drafting are stressed in the first year. The second year concentrates on drafting and design of residential structures, and civil engineering. Hand drafting methods and Computer Aided Drafting/Design (CADD) technologies are utilized. Tech Prep agreements are in place with Ocean County College, enabling students to receive up to 9 college credits, and with Mercer County College, enabling students to receive 6 college credits. Successful completion of both the OCVTS 2-year curriculum and college challenge exams are required to obtain credits.

    A+ Certification

    A+ Certification | 1 years / 450 hours

    This course prepares students for the A+ Certification Exam in computer repair technology. The increased demand for qualified PC technicians has made A+ Certification a must for improved job opportunities and advancement in the world of PC repair and maintenance. Recommended Skills: A general foundation in electronics and/or computers is strongly recommended. In addition, strong math and science skills are recommended.

    Computer Service Repair

    Computer Service Repair | 1 years / 450 hours

    This program is a survey course designed to prepare students with a diversified computer and electronic background. The goal is to supply the necessary information needed to prepare students to make educational decisions in pursuing computer or other related technology careers. The student will learn the theory of operation, assembly, and troubleshooting of modern computers. The course targets entry level skills leading to a career in the computer service market. Recommended Skills: Strong math and science skills are recommended.

    Computer Science

    Computer Science | Tech Prep | 2 years / 900 hours

    This course provides students with opportunities for advanced studies in information technology. The program is open to students who plan on pursuing college degrees in preparation for careers as system engineers, computer programmers, information technology managers or other technology related specialties. Topics covered in the course include: introduction to information systems and computer applications, introduction to problem solving and program design, Internet organization and applications, object oriented design and programming using Visual BASIC, and Java, and web site design and development using HTML, JavaScript, and PHP. The course may include internships with area businesses. Multimedia applications, high speed Internet access, and state-of-the-art equipment and technology are available to students. High school students are eligible to receive 12 college credits through a Tech Prep agreement with Ocean County College. Pre-requisites include familiarity with desktop computers, standard desktop applications like Word and Excel, and the Internet.
