Computer Science (Tech Prep)

This course provides students with opportunities for advanced studies in information technology. The program is open to students who plan on pursuing college degrees in preparation for careers as system engineers, computer programmers, information technology managers or other technology related specialties. Topics covered in the course include: introduction to information systems and computer applications, introduction to problem solving and program design, Internet organization and applications, object oriented design and programming using C++, Visual BASIC and Java and web site design and development using HTML, JavaScript and ASP. The course may include internships with area businesses. Multimedia applications, high speed Internet access and state-of-the-art equipment and technology are available to students. High school students are eligible to receive 12 college credits through a Tech Prep agreement with Ocean County College. Pre-requisites include familiarity with desktop computers and the Internet.
