Dental Assisting

This program teaches four-handed dentistry and lab skills, prevention techniques, operative treatment and specialty areas. A clinical experience in a dental office is a required part of the program. Students must provide transportation to the clinical site. The course provides preparation for students interested in dental careers such as dental hygienist, lab technician, X-ray technician and dentist, as well as for those interested in immediate employment as a dental assistant. Additional certification allows students to become certified or registered assistants licensed to perform oral procedures under the supervision of a dentist. Word processing skills are strongly recommended.
High school seniors are given priority for admissions to this course.
