Medical Assistant (Tech Prep)

This course emphasizes physician assisting skills including vital sign monitoring, electrocardiogram administration and venipuncture. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) standards, in-depth computerized office procedures and mastery of state of the art electronic diagnostic equipment are included. Keyboarding/word processing skills of 25 words per minute are a prerequisite. An internship in a medical office or hospital setting is an integral part of the curriculum. Students will be required to complete necessary medical requirements prior to participation in an internship.
