Fifty-seven Practical Nursing students at OCVTS recently received the traditional nurse’s cap at a ceremony recognizing the achievements and accomplishments in completing the first half of the intense and comprehensive nursing program.

It was a fun night of food and fundraising in Lacey Township on Monday night at the 27th Annual International Chefs Night Out. This year hosted at the beautiful Lacey Elks Lodge on Beach Avenue in Lacey. A nice crowd attended & there was lots of food from all over Ocean County, including an assortment of cuisine from the OCVTS culinary students.

OCVTS successfully held its 2024 Open House on February 1st, drawing an unprecedented crowd of 1,832 people across five locations in Ocean County, highlighting the increasing interest in Career and Technical Education (CTE). This event provided high school and adult learners with a hands-on experience through live demonstrations in various fields.

Students and staff at the OCVTS Brick Center partnered again this year with Fulfill, formerly known as the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County, and RWJ Barnabas Community Medical Center to prepare meals for those in need this Thanksgiving. Over 3,500 meals will be distributed.

More than 40 female students from two counties studying construction trades gathered to connect with esteemed female industry leaders breaking down traditional barriers at a networking event.

The Ocean County Foundation for Vocational and Technical Education, a nonprofit organization that supports the students at the Ocean County Vocational Technical School, hosted its second ‘Turkey Dash’, a 5K and Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, November 5th. The event took place on the beautiful scenic Barnegat Branch Trail in Waretown.

OCVTS stands together in helping to create a world without bullying! We stood together and wore orange on October 18 to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, Six OCVTS teachers were recognized at the Ocean County Teachers Recognition Ceremony presented by the Ocean County Association of School Administrators (O.C.A.S.A).

Hands-on, real-world training is crucial in the construction industry. Stavola Construction Company partnered with OCVTS, giving students the chance to learn on real heavy equipment machinery. This industry collaboration bridges the gap between theory and practice, preparing future professionals for success.

2023 Construction Trades Career Expo, hosted by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School in coordination with the Ocean County Workforce Development Board, was a successful event that highlighted the importance of trade schools in the construction industry. The event, held on May 3, 2023, was attended by several vocational students, high school students, the general public, and over 40 key construction industry employers.

One Hundred Twenty Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) students competed at the New Jersey SkillsUSA Championships which took place on Saturdays in March and April in several counties, throughout New Jersey.

During the months of December and January, GPAA and NJ Legal One teamed up to shoot a learning video for Legal One. Anthony Ciccotelli and Carolyn Little played a huge role in casting and managing crew for the production. Mr. Ciccotelli was instrumental in the script writing and facilitating the entire process. Current students, graduates, parents, staff and guests all played a role in this production.

Veolia North America partnered with the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) as part of their Project Sonat Environmental Program. Veolia North America awarded MATES with a generous donation in the amount of $20,000.00 that will allow them to further their conservation efforts with recovering derelict crab pots and to promote and distribute bycatch reduction devices (BRDs) for crab pots throughout the area.

The members of the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) Mock Trial team had ONE goal this year…to win the Ocean County Championship! Their focus, hard work, and dedication paid off, and after competing against eight other high school teams, they emerged victorious.

The OCVTS school district shared information about the New HEOP Program, the opportunities it will provide its students, and its potential to support the industry with a pipeline of talent.

The Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) proudly held commencement ceremonies for their three full-time High School Career Academies on Monday, July 6th. Students studying fields ranging from math and science to the performing arts and law enforcement were honored and received certifications at the event. The 2020 academic year posed a unique challenge to students, as the COVID-19 crisis forced OCVTS’ students and instructors to move towards remote learning in mid-March.
