DENTAL ASSISTING
2 YEARS / 900 HOURS / TOMS RIVER
This program provides comprehensive training in four-handed dentistry, laboratory skills, preventive techniques, operative treatment, and specialty areas. A key component of the program is clinical experience in a dental office, for which students must provide their own transportation.The curriculum prepares students for a variety of dental careers, including dental hygienist, lab technician, x-ray technician, dentist, and employment as a dental assistant. Additional certifications allow students to become certified or registered dental assistants, licensed to perform oral procedures under the supervision of a dentist. Second-year students have the opportunity to take the Infection Control Board Exam through the Dental Assisting National Board, initiating the Certified Dental Assistant credential. Upon completion of the dental assisting program, students may enroll in the Dental Radiology Program. To participate, students must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and have successfully completed the dental assisting program. The radiology course includes 45 hours of instruction—25 hours didactic and 20 hours lab—covering all New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners objectives, along with supervised clinical practice arranged by OCVTS. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the Dental X-ray Examination for licensure. Recommended skills include proficiency in word processing and strong communication abilities, which are essential for success in both classroom and clinical settings.


EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)
1 YEAR / 450 HOURS / WARETOWN
This course prepares students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to provide emergency medical care as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Through classroom instruction, lab simulations, and field experiences, students learn to assess patients, manage medical and trauma emergencies, perform CPR, and use life-saving equipment such as automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and airway management devices. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, critical thinking, and professional communication in emergency situations. Students who successfully complete the course meet the training requirements to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination and qualify for New Jersey EMT certification. Students will also get training in The Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, and 400 which are standardized training courses developed by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). They are designed to prepare individuals and organizations for effective response to emergencies and disasters of all sizes.
This is a 1-year program, open to 12th grade students ONLY.


HEALTH & FITNESS TECHNOLOGY Copy

Explore the world of fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation while building the skills for a rewarding career! This course provides hands-on experience in personal training, nutrition, and physical therapy support, preparing students for roles as entry-level personal trainers, fitness technicians, or group fitness instructors. The curriculum covers essential topics such as human anatomy, exercise physiology, kinesiology, exercise program design, and nutrition planning.Graduates are prepared to work in a variety of settings, including fitness centers, corporate wellness programs, hospitals, sports medicine clinics, and rehabilitation centers. In the second year, students participate in a clinical experience, gaining practical, real-world exposure in fitness, wellness, and rehabilitative environments. MEDICAL ASSISTANT
2 YEAR / 900 HOURS / TOMS RIVER / JACKSON
Jumpstart your career in healthcare with our dynamic Medical Assistant program! Designed for students ready to thrive in medical offices, clinics, or outpatient facilities, this two-year program offers both administrative and clinical training. Students can begin at the start of either year. In the administrative year, you’ll master medical terminology and abbreviations, patient intake, insurance and billing, CPT and ICD-10 coding, electronic medical records (EMR), appointment scheduling (SIM Charts), keyboarding, medical document preparation, patient education, front desk operations, and professional etiquette. You’ll also create a polished portfolio with resumes and cover letters to launch your career. The clinical year immerses students in hands-on healthcare skills, including vital signs, electrocardiograms, laboratory procedures (urinalysis, Strep tests, capillary punctures), venipuncture with live sticks, infection control, OSHA standards, and assisting physicians with procedures and minor surgeries. Upon completion, students who meet AMCA requirements are eligible to pursue NHA (National Healthcareer Association) Medical Assistant certification, opening doors to exciting healthcare opportunities. The program emphasizes professionalism, effective communication, and leadership skills, with opportunities to join HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and participate in job shadowing experiences in real physician offices. Recommended Skills: Strong communication, word processing abilities, and consistent attendance to fully engage in this hands-on, career- focused program.


PRE-NURSING
2 YEAR / 900 HOURS / TOMS RIVER (OCC CAMPUS RUSSELL BLDG. #7)
The Pre-Nursing program offers a hands-on, career-focused introduction to nursing and healthcare for students with a passion for helping others. Through a combination of classroom instruction and simulation labs, students develop essential skills in Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Medical Math, and core healthcare concepts such as ethics, professionalism, and infection control. In the labs, students gain practical experience performing vital signs, patient care, transfers, and other foundational nursing skills, building confidence for real-world healthcare settings. Through *An articulation agreement with Ocean County College, students can earn college credits for Anatomy and Physiology I and II, giving them a head start on further education. In the second year, students complete the NJ Department of Health Patient Care Technician (PCT) curriculum and are eligible for certification after meeting clinical hour and state exam requirements. Students also participate in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), gaining leadership experience and networking opportunities in the healthcare field. With a strong emphasis on rigor, professionalism, and hands-on learning, this program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to excel in healthcare careers. Success in the program requires strong math and science skills, excellent attendance, and a commitment to a challenging, fast-paced curriculum.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT
2 YEARS / 900 HOURS / WARETOWN
The Veterinary Assistant program provides students with hands-on experience in animal care, health, and management. Over two years, students learn the fundamentals of animal anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures while developing skills in safe handling, nutrition, and disease prevention. Classroom instruction is reinforced through lab work, simulated workplace activities, and internships with local animal care facilities. Students explore careers in veterinary medicine, animal science, and related industries while gaining professional and leadership skills. Graduates are prepared for further education or entry-level employment in veterinary clinics, animal shelters, research facilities, zoos, and agricultural settings.
