Fifty-eight Practical Nursing students at OCVTS recently received the traditional nurse’s cap at a ceremony recognizing the achievements and accomplishments in completing the first half of the intense and comprehensive nursing program. PROGRAM AREA \ COURSE OF STUDY APRIL 2, 2025 58 OCVTS NURSING STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT TRADITIONAL CAPPING CEREMONY 58 OCVTS NURSING STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT TRADITIONAL CAPPING CEREMONY Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS APRIL 2, 2025 Toms River, NJ – In a pivotal moment that marks the culmination of the first phase of rigorous training, fifty-eight aspiring nurses at Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) were honored with the traditional nurse’s cap in a ceremony on March 31, 2025. This ceremonial recognition not only underscores their successful completion of numerous hours of classroom instruction and skills testing but also heralds the commencement of their specialty rotations in local healthcare facilities. Practical nurses, integral to the healthcare team, are adept at providing care to patients across a spectrum of needs under the guidance of registered nurses and licensed physicians. The journey of the OCVTS nursing students continues as they gain valuable hands-on experience in the cutting-edge nursing skills laboratory at the OCVTS Toms River Center. This facility, a beneficiary of the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation's magnanimity, is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, including an advanced manikin capable of simulating various childbirth scenarios. This immersive learning environment is emblematic of OCVTS’s commitment to a practical, reality-based educational approach. Further enhancing their educational experience, OCVTS has forged valuable partnerships with more than a dozen local hospitals and healthcare facilities. These alliances not only facilitate invaluable practical experience for the students but also allow them to seamlessly integrate theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom with real-world applications. Looking ahead, the graduation ceremony slated for the end of June 2025 will mark the transition of these students to the next pivotal stage of their careers. Upon graduation, they will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN, thereby taking their next step toward becoming Licensed Practical Nurses in New Jersey. It is noteworthy that the pass rates of OCVTS nursing graduates have consistently exceeded both state and national averages, underscoring the program’s excellence. The Practical Nursing Program at OCVTS, established in 1959 as the institution’s inaugural offering, is sanctioned by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the Department of Education. Not only is it the largest vocational technical-based nursing program in New Jersey, but it also maintains a highly competitive admission process due to its limited class sizes and rigorous curriculum. - OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying
OCVTS stands together in helping to create a world without bullying! We stood together and wore orange on October 16 to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. PROGRAM AREA \ COURSE OF STUDY OCT 16, 2024 OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS OCT 16, 2024 The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District stands together in helping to create a world without bullying! We stood together and wore orange on October 16 to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. Unity Day, started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center as the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month continues to grow every year as a tangible representation of the universal message that our society wants to promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion to prevent bullying. Why unity? For years, bullying was justified with expressions such as, “Bullying is a natural part of childhood,” “Bullying makes kids tougher,” or “Bullying is a rite of passage.” The goal of Unity Day is to bring together youth, parents, educators, businesses, and community members across the nation to emphasize the message that bullying is not acceptable, and that all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community. Why the color orange? Unity Day is celebrated in October, and orange is a color commonly identified with the month and the autumn season. It is also a color that is associated with safety and visibility. It is a color described as warm and inviting, and its vibrancy makes an impactful statement. Why just a day? The event provides a catalyst for everyone to come together with a visual statement that our actions matter not only on one day, but every day. One young student shared that he wished Unity Day could be every day. When asked why he replied: “So that every day everyone would be nicer to me and to each other.” Pictured- OCVTS Brick, Jackson, Grunin Performing Arts Academy, and Marine Academy of Technology & Environmental Science Help Spread Awareness| Get Involved & Start Planning Now View the free Unity Day Guide featuring large scale ideas to individual action. https://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/pdf/unity-day-guide.pdf Previous Next Ocean County Vocational Technical School and Design 446 Launch Innovative Partnership December 3, 2025 OCVTS Culinary Arts Students Prepare 3,800 Thanksgiving Meals for Families in Need November 26, 2025 OCVTS Celebrates Eighth Student-Constructed Home and Its First Official Build as a Registered Home Builder in Ocean County November 19, 2025 Partnership Between OCVTS Audio Engineering Program and KEF Audio Launches Series of Immersive Audio Workshops October 28, 2025 The OCVTS Foundation’s 27th Annual Golf Outing Brings in $81k to Benefit Ocean County Trade School Students October 15, 2025 OCVTS Brick Campus Reveals a Fresh Modern Look and Culinary Program Enhancements During Ribbon Cutting Ceremony October 6, 2025 OCVTS Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies Showcasing Major Expansion and Renovation Projects to Fuel Workforce Development in Ocean County SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 Welcome Back to a New and Exciting 2025/2026 School Year SEPTEMBER 4, 2025 OCVTS Year In Review 2024/2025 Magazine Vol. 3 | 2024/2025 OCVTS Fashion Design Student Receives Gold Medal at the 2025 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Florida JULY 22, 2025 Ocean County Vocational Technical School State Champions Place at SkillsUSA National Conference in Atlanta GA JULY 2, 2025 OCVTS Holds Graduation For Fifty-Seven Practical Nursing Students JUNE 27, 2025 OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS OCT 16, 2024 OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying Previous The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District stands together in helping to create a world without bullying!
