OCVTS Career Fair Bridges Gap Between Healthcare Students and Industry Employers

Toms River, NJ- On Tuesday, May 21st, Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) hosted a highly successful healthcare career fair at their Toms River Campus. The event saw over 253 trade school students engaging directly with 36 employers from the healthcare industry. These students, well-prepared with resumes in hand, had the opportunity to apply for positions and discuss potential career paths with healthcare industry professionals.

The career fair was designed to bridge the gap between education and employment, giving students a firsthand look at the opportunities available within the healthcare sector. Employers in attendance were enthusiastic about the chance to meet and evaluate prospective employees, showcasing the variety of roles available within their organizations.

OCVTS offers an array of trade school programs in Health Technologies, each tailored to meet the specific needs of the healthcare industry. These programs include:

• Pre-Nursing: This program prepares students for entry-level positions in nursing, providing foundational knowledge and practical skills essential for pursuing further education and careers in nursing.

• Medical Assisting: Students in this program learn to perform administrative and clinical tasks, becoming valuable assets in medical offices, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.

• Practical Nursing: This rigorous program trains students to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), equipping them with the skills necessary to provide basic nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors.

• Health and Fitness Technology: Focusing on the intersection of health and fitness, this program prepares students for careers in personal training, wellness coaching, and other fitness-related roles.

• Dental Assisting: Students gain the knowledge and skills required to assist dentists in providing patient care, including preparing patients for treatment, sterilizing instruments, and taking dental impressions.
