  • OCVTS Continues to Bring Workforce Leaders Together to Shape the Future of Career & Technical Education

OCVTS proudly hosted its Year-End General Advisory Meeting at the Jackson Campus—bringing together a powerful network of educators, administrators, and industry professionals committed to advancing Career and Technical Education (CTE). PROGRAM AREA \ COURSE OF STUDY April 29, 2026 OCVTS Continues to Bring Workforce Leaders Together to Shape the Future of Career & Technical Education OCVTS Continues to Bring Workforce Leaders Together to Shape the Future of Career & Technical Education Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS April 29, 2026 On April 29, 2026, Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) proudly hosted its Year-End General Advisory Meeting at the Jackson Campus located in Jackson, New Jersey—bringing together a powerful network of educators, administrators, and industry professionals committed to advancing Career and Technical Education (CTE). General Advisory Meetings serve as a critical connection point between education and industry. These collaborative sessions ensure that OCVTS programs remain aligned with current workforce demands, evolving technologies, and real-world expectations. By engaging directly with industry employers and trade experts, the district continues to strengthen its mission of preparing students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary for success in today’s competitive job market. The Ocean County Vocational Technical School offers more than 30 Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs that are intentionally aligned to major workforce sectors and industry pathways—not simply “trades,” but a comprehensive ecosystem of career fields tied directly to real labor market demand. These programs span key industries including Construction & Skilled Trades; Transportation, Automotive & Marine; STEM, Engineering & Advanced Technology; Arts, Media & Creative; Law, Public Safety & Homeland Security; Health Sciences & Medical; Cosmetology & Personal Services; Culinary, Hospitality & Tourism; Business, Marketing & Entrepreneurship; and Information Technology & Digital Systems, as well as Special Needs and Pre-Vocational Workforce Training. Together, these pathways reflect the big picture of high-quality CTE—strategically designed around real-world workforce needs, strengthened through active industry partnerships, and built to create clear, sustainable career pipelines that lead students to employment, apprenticeships, or continued education. Discussions throughout these Advisory Meetings focus on key priorities, including workforce trends, curriculum alignment, industry-standard equipment, student readiness, and expanded opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, and career placement. This ongoing dialogue ensures that OCVTS students are not only learning—but learning what matters most. In addition to these district-wide General Advisory Meetings, OCVTS hosts industry-specific advisory meetings throughout the year. These targeted sessions dive deeper into individual CTE programs, allowing partners to provide specialized insight into their respective trades—from healthcare and automotive technology to construction, manufacturing, and beyond. Together, these advisory efforts reinforce a shared goal: to keep CTE programs relevant, responsive, and directly connected to the industries they serve—ensuring that every student is equipped with a clear pathway from the classroom to a meaningful career.
