This year hosted at the beautiful Lacey Elks Lodge on Beach Avenue in Lacey. The Lacey Elks did a fantastic job providing their building for this year's event. A nice crowd attended the 25th annual event and there was lots of food from all over Ocean County, including the culinary students at Ocean County Vocational-Technical School. Sue Moll and I were glad to represent 92.7 WOBM and Townsquare Media at this year's event, the first in two years due to the pandemic and it was great to see friends from the community, local businesses, and the schools. There were lots of foods to sample. Everything from starters to dessert and everything in between. So many different types of foods. All the vendors did a fantastic job and everyone enjoyed the night. This event is always unique because each year there are different types of foods and games to play. After eating folks were entertained with a fun gift auction with lots of cool prizes and of course proceeds going to the schools of OCVTS. Take a look at our Mega-Photo Gallery and see some of the fun from Monday night here in Ocean County. Already looking forward to the 26th edition next year! Forty-nine Practical Nursing students at OCVTS recently received the traditional nurse’s cap at a ceremony recognizing the achievements and accomplishments in completing the first half of the intense and comprehensive nursing program. PROGRAM AREA \ COURSE OF STUDY MARCH 29, 2023 49 OCVTS NURSING STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT TRADITIONAL CAPPING CEREMONY 49 OCVTS NURSING STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT TRADITIONAL CAPPING CEREMONY OCVTS Practical Nursing MARCH 29, 2023 Forty-nine Practical Nursing students at Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) recently received the traditional nurse’s cap at a ceremony recognizing the achievements and accomplishments in completing the first half of the intense and comprehensive nursing program. The students have successfully completed many hours of classroom and skills testing. They will now continue on to specialty rotations at local health facilities. A practical nurse is trained to care for acute, sub-acute, convalescent and chronically ill patients under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed physician. The OCVTS nursing students continue to gain valuable experience in the state-of-the-art nursing skills lab, funded through a generous donation from the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation. The lab, located at the OCVTS Toms River Center, equipped with the latest equipment and technology provides a reality-based approach to learning, including a life-like manikin which can be programmed to simulate a myriad of childbirth scenarios. Additionally, OCVTS has established agreements with over a dozen local hospitals and health care facilities which provide valuable opportunities for students to gain experience and apply classroom theory. Graduation is scheduled for the end of June. At that time students will be prepared to take the NCLEX-PN for qualification as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New Jersey. Historically, OCVTS nursing graduates’ pass rate for the NCLEX-PN has surpassed both the state and national average pass rate. The OCVTS Practical Nursing Program was the first program offered at OCVTS and began in 1959. It is approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the Department of Education. The program has a very competitive admissions process and class sizes are limited. It is the largest vocational technical-based nursing program in New Jersey. - OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying
OCVTS stands together in helping to create a world without bullying! We stood together and wore orange on October 16 to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. PROGRAM AREA \ COURSE OF STUDY OCT 16, 2024 OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS OCT 16, 2024 The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District stands together in helping to create a world without bullying! We stood together and wore orange on October 16 to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. Unity Day, started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center as the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month continues to grow every year as a tangible representation of the universal message that our society wants to promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion to prevent bullying. Why unity? For years, bullying was justified with expressions such as, “Bullying is a natural part of childhood,” “Bullying makes kids tougher,” or “Bullying is a rite of passage.” The goal of Unity Day is to bring together youth, parents, educators, businesses, and community members across the nation to emphasize the message that bullying is not acceptable, and that all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community. Why the color orange? Unity Day is celebrated in October, and orange is a color commonly identified with the month and the autumn season. It is also a color that is associated with safety and visibility. It is a color described as warm and inviting, and its vibrancy makes an impactful statement. Why just a day? The event provides a catalyst for everyone to come together with a visual statement that our actions matter not only on one day, but every day. One young student shared that he wished Unity Day could be every day. When asked why he replied: “So that every day everyone would be nicer to me and to each other.” Pictured- OCVTS Brick, Jackson, Grunin Performing Arts Academy, and Marine Academy of Technology & Environmental Science Help Spread Awareness| Get Involved & Start Planning Now View the free Unity Day Guide featuring large scale ideas to individual action. https://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/pdf/unity-day-guide.pdf Previous Next Partnership Between OCVTS Audio Engineering Program and KEF Audio Launches Series of Immersive Audio Workshops October 28, 2025 The OCVTS Foundation’s 27th Annual Golf Outing Brings in $81k to Benefit Ocean County Trade School Students October 15, 2025 OCVTS Brick Campus Reveals a Fresh Modern Look and Culinary Program Enhancements During Ribbon Cutting Ceremony October 6, 2025 OCVTS Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies Showcasing Major Expansion and Renovation Projects to Fuel Workforce Development in Ocean County SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 Welcome Back to a New and Exciting 2025/2026 School Year SEPTEMBER 4, 2025 OCVTS Year In Review 2024/2025 Magazine Vol. 3 | 2024/2025 OCVTS Fashion Design Student Receives Gold Medal at the 2025 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Florida JULY 22, 2025 Ocean County Vocational Technical School State Champions Place at SkillsUSA National Conference in Atlanta GA JULY 2, 2025 OCVTS Holds Graduation For Fifty-Seven Practical Nursing Students JUNE 27, 2025 OCVTS Career Fair Connects Healthcare Students and Industry Employers JUNE 4, 2025 OCVTS Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony Celebrates 114 Future Trades Professionals May 22, 2025 OCVTS Hosts 4th Annual Ocean County Construction Trades Career Expo MAY 14, 2025 OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS OCT 16, 2024 OCVTS Leads the Charge on Unity Day to Help End Bullying Previous The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District stands together in helping to create a world without bullying! - OCVTS Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies Showcasing Major Expansion and Renovation Projects to Fuel Workforce Development in Ocean County
The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District (OCVTS) is proud to announce two major milestones that will expand opportunities for students and strengthen workforce development across Ocean County. PROGRAM AREA \ COURSE OF STUDY SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 OCVTS Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies Showcasing Major Expansion and Renovation Projects to Fuel Workforce Development in Ocean County OCVTS Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies Showcasing Major Expansion and Renovation Projects to Fuel Workforce Development in Ocean County Nicholas Spiech, OCVTS SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District (OCVTS) is proud to announce two major milestones that will expand opportunities for students and strengthen workforce development across Ocean County. On September 15, Ocean County Commissioners Frank Sadeghi, Robert Arace, and Jennifer Bacchione joined OCVTS for ribbon-cutting ceremonies at two transformative projects. The first celebration marked the Jackson Center Expansion Project—a 24,865 sq. ft. addition to our Jackson Center at 850 Toms River Road. The expansion features four brand-new state-of-the-art shops, four modern classrooms, and an upgraded security vestibule. With capacity for 192 students, the new space prepares students for high-demand careers in Electrical, Plumbing, Welding, and Medical Assisting. Students will gain hands-on training using industry-standard tools and credentials that lead directly to meaningful, good-paying jobs. This project was made possible in part through the Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act. The second milestone is the relocation of the Academy of Law & Public Safety (ALPS). Beginning in Fall 2025, ALPS will move from its Waretown location into the newly renovated Russell Building at Ocean County College—currently home to our Pre-Nursing program. This relocation and renovation project not only enhances the partnership between OCVTS and Ocean County College, but it also opens the door for ALPS students to graduate with both a high school diploma and college credits. At ALPS, students experience a full-time, themed high school program where they receive hands-on training in law enforcement, homeland security, and public safety, while building a strong academic foundation and future career pathway. Importantly, the move will also allow OCVTS to launch three additional trades-related programs at the Waretown location, further expanding options for students interested in pursuing skilled career paths. Beyond its educational impact, this expansion holds broader significance for the local community. The projects are expected to create jobs, foster partnerships with local businesses in the construction and medical fields, and generate lasting economic benefits that will ripple throughout the region. Together, these initiatives reflect OCVTS’s mission to prepare students with the skills, training, and opportunities needed to succeed in today’s workforce—and to ensure Ocean County continues to thrive. The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District extends its sincere gratitude to all who helped make the ribbon-cutting ceremonies a memorable moment. Special thanks to Frank Sadeghi, Deputy Director; Robert Arace, Commissioner; Jennifer Bacchione, Commissioner; Dr. Pamela Monaco, President of Ocean County College; Stephen Scaturro, President of the OCVTS Board of Education; Karen L. Homiek, Superintendent of OCVTS; John Biscardi, Principal; Tiffany Seeley, Principal; and all honored guests for their support and shared commitment to advancing education and opportunity in Ocean County. About Ocean County Vocational Technical School Ocean County Vocational Technical School provides an intensive and immersive educational experience aligned with the current and emerging demands of business, industry, and advanced education.
